THE future of agricultural industry practices will be on display this week at the Ag Innovation Expo.
Taking place at Hagley Farm School on Thursday, April 28, the event, which is hosted by the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group (TAPG) and supported by the TFGA and State Government, will give farmers and industry members the opportunity to hear from speakers, see displays and network with some of the sectors innovative thinkers.
Exhibitors include Safe Farming Tasmania, TTMI, Ag Logic, Precision Ag Solutions, Rural Alive & Well, Primary Employers Tasmania, AgVita, Fruit Growers Tasmania and many more, as well as plenty of ag industry manufacturers, industry groups, support services and education providers.
Terry Brient, Executive Officer of the TAPG, said the event was an opportunity for everyone, not just industry members, to take a deep look at precision agriculture and the advancement of the industry.
“It’s an opportunity to bring different representative groups of the industry together. Technology is a means to a very desirable future,” Mr Brient said.
“We want to get the message out, there is so much more to the agriculture industry than just working on a farm.”
The TAPG has teamed up with the TFGA to bring the expo to fruition, something Mr Brient says is an important step forward in providing solidity to the future of the industry.
“TFGA look at the pre-farmgate side of the industry, while we look at post-farmgate and there are a lot of our members that move across that blurred line in their business.
“We’re going to come under increasing pressure in the future with what we can do on the farm.
“We all have common interests and accountabilities, it makes sense for us to all work together and share our common interests in our future.
“If we’re going to achieve those goals, we’re going to need a better trained and better educated workforce than ever before.”
The event is free, but tickets will be required and can be found at
