FARMERS and collectors are being encouraged to pull their tractors out of the shed and head to Scottsdale in August for a Tractor Show and Shine. Organised by local Keran Thompson in conjunction with the local Rotary Club, the event will feature everything from vintage farm vehicles to the latest modern technology-laden tractors. Mr Thompson said there were often car shows and the like but having a tractor show was something a bit different.
“I had heard from our Rotary Club members that things had been a bit quite lately and I was washing my tractor one day and I thought this would something we could do that was little different and a way of getting people together as well as raising some money,” he said. “If owners are happy there will be an opportunity for people to see the machinery in action, really get a feel for what they are like to sit in, drive and how they operate in farm settings. “You will see them with all the computers and add-ons that people have, rather than just looking at one in the showroom.”
Mr Thompson said he also expected vintage tractors to be on display and a range of equipment and implements. “We will have prizes on offer including gate prizes, food van, cheesecake on a stick and face painting so there will be something for everyone.” It is being promoted as a family fun day with all proceeds from the event going to the Rotary Club of Scottsdale for community projects.
The event is being held at the Scottsdale Recreation Ground on Sunday, August 7, from 10am to 2pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
