Final countdown to Agfest

PREPARATIONS are well underway for this year’s Agfest which less than three weeks away from throwing open its gate.

Rural Youth volunteers and set-up crews have spent the past few weeks on site as a tent city takes shape and exhibitors being to mark their territory. This year’s Agfest is being held from Wednesday, August 24, until Saturday, August 27.

The four-day event was delayed from its usual early May date to avoid Covid crowd restrictions. The decision paid off with the State Government removing all crowd limits and density restrictions for events. While exhibitor numbers are down slightly on previous years due to the date change there will be more than 400 on site and crowd numbers are expected to return to historic highs with unlimited tickets on sale.

Agfest chair Caine Evans said the crew were feeling positive with just weeks to go. “Things are going very well indeed and we are on track with our preparations,” Mr Evans said. “Everyone is really looking forward to this year’s event and we can’t wait to welcome back the crowds. “We haven’t looked too far ahead at the weather forecast but if we get some clear sunny winter weather then people are going to be loving it.”

Livestock and Animal Handling Coordinator Charli Stone has been busy preparing the arena and surrounding areas for young animal handlers. “It is starting to get exciting the closer we get,” she said. “In one week all these marques and tents have popped up and we are really starting to look like a tent city. “It will be great to have everyone on site in just a few weeks’ time.”

Tickets for this year’s Agfest are only being sold online, however, as there are no crowd limits, tickets can be bought on the day of attendance. There are also no multi-day passes.

Ticket prices start at $10 for children aged 5 to 17 years and those under five are admitted free. Adult tickets are $25 and seniors or concession card holders are $20. If you need help to access online tickets, Telstra shops around Tasmania have formed a partnership with Agfest to provide online support and access.

Gates open from 8am to 4pm daily. The Agfest in the Cloud online event will continue the great deals and sales specials for a further week from August 27 to September 2. Tickets for Agfest 2022 – Tasmania’s Premier Field Days in Carrick from Ticketbooth.
