Big freeze hits statewide

WINTER chill has hit throughout Tasmania with widespread frost, icy roads and snow falling below 1000 metres.

The Burea of Meteorology expects frosts to continue for the rest of the week .

They say a high pressure system lying close to the state is expected to move overhead on Wednesday. A ridge of high pressure will persist over the state for the remainder of the week.
