Resignations at G6M mine amid financial refinancing negotiations
There's shuffling of the deck chairs at Group 6 Metals tungsten mine at Grassy on King Island.
The group is experiencing a significant leadership transition following the recent resignations of three key personnel.
General Manager Chas Murcott, HR Superintendent Tracie Phillips and Maintenance Superintendent Simon Phillips have all resigned and left the company.
"Chas poured his heart and soul into this project over the past five years and has earned a well-deserved break," CEO and Managing Director Keith McKnight said.
"He was a valuable member of the King Island community through his work on the KI Shipping Committee and consistently sought opportunities to align the interests of the Island with those of the mine development. We are incredibly grateful for his tireless dedication over the past five years."
"It's not uncommon for team members to explore new opportunities when a leader departs. Tracie and Simon Phillips were part of the King Island community for nearly two years and made significant contributions to the project during their time with the company. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours," Mr McKnight said about the sudden group departure.
"No other contracts have been terminated or have not been extended," he added.
G6M recently indicated that the company is in "sensitive refinancing negotiations"
"The company is diligently working to secure the project's financial future", McKnight said. "in the meantime, we've begun feeding high-grade ore into the process plant, which we anticipate will boost production and lead to a strong month of concentrate output for August.
