Autumn Festival off to flying start

The Tasmanian Autumn Festival is off to a flying start, with more than 40 events scheduled in the month of April. 

The event got a last-minute boost with a $3000 grant from the Derwent Valley Council. 

Highlights scattered across the month include Karaoke and Trivia at Welcome Swallow Brewery, Emma-Lee Bradbury’s acrylic paintings, Leap and Wander pottery, Long Table Lunches at Meadowbank and Rathmore, Heimat Farmstay animal introductions, a Family Day at Waddamana and garden tours and cooking experiences at the Agrarian Kitchen. 

On Sunday April 14th,  Rotary will host a Derwent Valley Autumn Festival Day - Family fun day on the Esplanade at New Norfolk. live music, food vans, local distillers, wineries serving their specialties. 

“The Tasmanian Autumn Festival is a month-long celebration that throws a spotlight on the beauty and bounty of the season,” Mr Heroys said. 

“The region is as rich in stories as in natural wonder, where visitors can indulging in seasonal produce and wine, and discover the creations of the region’s artisan community.”

New for this festival is the Foodie Trail where different food delights are being served in venues across the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands. Every distillery, brewery and cellar door winery is participating in the Tipple Trail. 

Tourists are encouraged to use the interactive digital map or grab a leaflet to guide their experience for all events through the month.
