Nice weather for ducks
IT IS only a little over halfway through the month and rain has fallen in New Norfolk on all but three days, with the heaviest falls coming this week and registering 12 to 14 mm, or half an inch in the old money.
With total precipitation so far of 40 mm, that’s July’s normal accumulation in just half a month.
This follows a long dry period across the Valley and the state of a whole, in some places for nearly a year in total.
While no flood warnings are currently in place for the Derwent or rivers that feed it like the Styx and Clyde -– and ‘below flood’ conditions are registered at the end of the week – more rain is coming.
According to the Weather Network, rain is forecast through the second half of the month too, mostly light showers and the possibility of some thunderstorms.
However, there will be few a dry days until the end of July and into August.
