Connectivity on the Tasman Peninsula addressed by Libs

A LIBERAL Government would invest $6 million to fund three new mobile phone towers and improve mobile coverage for residents, businesses and visitors on the Tasmania Peninsula.
It is anticipated that the towers will be installed at Taranna, Murdunna and Port Arthur, with exact locations to be agreed in consultation between mobile phone providers and the Tasman Council.
Liberal Lyons candidate Susie Bower said the investment would address serious connectivity issues currently experienced in the region.
“Current mobile phone coverage on the Tasman is patchy at best and has been exacerbated by the recent closure of the 3G network,’’ Ms Bower said.
“During a recent cruise ship visit to Port Arthur, the increased number of mobile devices essentially crashed the local phone network, which is clearly unacceptable.
“Our investment will enable the construction of three new mobile phone towers at Taranna, Murdunna and Port Arthur which will greatly improve local phone and internet coverage.”
