Tassie Farmers don't miss out on government rebates

As Tasmania prepares for the upcoming requirement for Mandatory Electronic Identification (EID) for sheep and goats starting on 1 January 2025, now is the ideal time for farmers to start getting ready. With government rebates available for tags and readers, it’s a great opportunity to introduce Tyler Geist, the Tasmanian Sales Territory Manager for Datamars Livestock.

Tyler has called Tasmania home for the past four years, having moved halfway around the world from a small town in Alaska. He met his wife, who hails from Northwest Tasmania, and made the easy decision to settle there. It’s a far cry from being charged by a grizzly bear while fishing for salmon in Alaska, but Tyler has embraced the Tasmanian lifestyle, indulging in his love of cycling, hiking, fishing, and camping.

Since relocating to the Northwest Coast, Tyler has worked as a Store Manager in rural agricultural retail, an area heavily influenced by dairy farming. His success came from guiding a team and liaising with farmers to deliver solutions that maximize value while providing excellent customer service. Now, as the Tasmanian Sales Territory Manager for Datamars, Tyler is focused on assisting with EID equipment requirements for livestock.

Datamars Livestock has actively participated in landowner forums across Tasmania, in collaboration with Biosecurity Tasmania, and has hosted many events at stores across the state. These sessions provided local producers with valuable insights into the EID rollout and the available equipment to improve efficiencies and profits via effective data capture and management. These informative sessions will continue through 2024 and beyond

Datamars products are exclusively available through rural supply stores, with the main resellers of EID tags and equipment being Elders, Yolla, AG Warehouse, Nutrien, Serve Ag and independent rural resellers. This ensures that farmers receive local advice tailored to their specific environmental conditions and livestock behaviour.

If you spot Tyler around, feel free to say hello – he is fun, engaging, likes a laugh, and loves to be helpful -  unlike a grizzly bear, he won’t bite!

Tyler can be contacted at 0418 285 662.
