TASFARMERS invites all primary producers to an Industry Forum on March 7 highlighting advocacy and farm practices for the betterment of agricultural productivity.

This forum will provide an opportunity for the agricultural community to come together, share insights, improve knowledge and awareness of evolving farm practices and engage in shaping the future of farming advocacy in Tasmania.

With industry challenges and regulatory settings changing rapidly, this event focuses on equipping producers with the tools and information they need to thrive while ensuring their voices remain at the forefront of policy development and advocacy efforts.

The forum will feature three dynamic panels covering livestock, horticulture, environment and cropping, with broader aspects of farm business throughout, ensuring something for everyone. The TasFarmers’ leadership team will be on hand to out line the organisation’s ongoing advocacy efforts and highlight upcoming changes to our council and committee structure for the year ahead.

With mounting local, national, and international political pressures, this forum will provide farmers with an opportunity to engage and directly shape TasFarmers’ advocacy and approach to the upcoming Federal election.

The livestock panel will feature an exciting update on TasFarmers’ Low Emission Livestock Project, which is being conducted in partnership with Sea Forest.

The panel will showcase how aspragopisis is being used to reduce methane emissions when fed to cattle. The panel will also discuss farm succession planning and provide an overview of virtual fencing.

The environment panel will bring together representatives from Game Ser vices Tasmania, Private Forests Tasmania and the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture to cover a range of topics, including browsing wildlife management, the benefits of forestry on farms and the value and efficiency of irrigation to farmers.

The cropping and horticulture panel will feature speakers from Ag Logic, the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture and Biosecurity Tasmania to share insights into precision agriculture, evolving soil technology and plant biosecurity.

Across all panels, members will have the opportunity to engage directly with guest speakers on topics of interest. This event promises to be a platform for farmers to get together and actively participate in ensuring the continued success of Tasmania’s agricultural industry.

Whether you’re looking to adopt new practices, voice your concerns or understand the latest policy developments, this Forum offers a valuable space to connect and collaborate.

We encourage all farmers, farm managers and industry leaders to attend, contribute with their experiences, and help steer the direction of TasFarmers’ advocacy efforts.

Together, we can ensure a resilient and prosperous future.

Please download a copy of the event rundown and book your ticket, free of charge, on the TasFarmers events page HERE or, contact the office if you require further information.

We look forward to seeing you all there.
