Completed King Island truck and machinery washdown facility at Grassy Harbour.

THE Truck Washdown facility at Grassy Harbour is now complete.

“I am pleased to announce that the long-awaited Grassy Harbour Cattle Truckwash upgrade construction has been completed,” Mayor Marcus Blackie said.

“I thank Cradle Coast Authority for their patience and persistence in delivering this project to King Island, ultimately with Federal funding. I also acknowledge TasPorts cooperation and support for this mutually beneficial upgrade.

“Recent logistic lessons learnt from our drought and increased cattle destocking volume have strongly reaffirmed the need for this critical upgrade to our Grassy Harbour complex.

This upgrade will immediately assist our cattle farmers, transport operators, Biosecurity outcomes and improve the efficiency of livestock shipping overall.”

It has been a long time since the LNP funding announcement in 2019, which was not made available to the project facilitator, the Cradle Coast Authority.

The Albanese government allocated $4.7m in new funding, which enabled the project to proceed to completion.
