THE positions for the office bearers and committee Gretna Cricket Club were elected and the club warmly welcomes Kylie Jones as joint Junior Development Officer. Kylie has a great understanding of junior cricket and we wish her all the best in her new role.

During the meeting a financial report was given, which showed the club to be in a very good position.

Following the AGM, a General Meeting was held.

For the coming season, the club will field two senior men’s teams in the Southern Cricket Association.

The club has proposed for Gretna I to remain in second grade and Gretna II to remain in fourth grade.

The club will again field junior teams in the Cricket Tasmania Hurricanes Junior League - Stage 1 & 2, U/14s and U/16’s.

To express your interest with junior cricket (boys and girls) you can contact Wade Gleeson on 0429 704 677 or Kylie Jones on 0418 500 669 and with the men’s teams you can contact Ben Shaw on 0499 889 965.

It was also noted that this season will be Peter Rainbird’s 60th season involvement with club cricket. Congratulations Pete, a fantastic effort indeed.

I really hope that given the findings into the Paul Reynolds Inquiry all our local sporting clubs will do their required due diligence and assure the community that all office bearers, coaches and staff have Working With Vulnerable People cards and police clearances. We owe it to our young people to protect them.
