AN upgraded Woolworths opened with a splash in New Norfolk this week, bringing significant changes to its deli, fresh fruit and vegetable counters, as well as seafood offerings.

The  George Street store now also offers a four-bay Direct to Boot service, so customers can order online, drive up and have their groceries packed into their vehicle.

It’s just the third Woolies supermarket in Tasmania to enjoy a refurbishment. At a cost of some $6 million, it will also add additional jobs to the market, which already employs 119 people.

Woolworths New Norfolk is a partner with Foodbank and such community groups as New Norfolk Cricket Club, Gretna Country Womens Association, New Norfolk Performing Arts and Lions Club.

New features include electronic ticketing throughout the store and eight new self-scanning checkouts designed to assist customers to pay for their groceries quicker.

Elsewhere, the supermarket now has a large macro wholefoods range, a selection of plant-based protein foods, as well as both international and Tasmanian products.

Store Manager, Allison Batge, who’s been working for Woolworths for 25 years, said at the opening she’s looking forward to showcasing the new look store, the innovative new features and expanded range of groceries.

Opening hours for Woolworths New Norfolk are 7:00 am - 10:00 pm, 7 days a week.

To celebrate the new-look store, Derwent Valley Gazette is getting together with Woolies to provide five lucky customers with their own $50 voucher for shopping in New Norfolk.

To be in the running to win one of these vouchers, tell us what you think of the refurbishment so far. Take a look around, and then send a note to mike.kerr@fontpublishing.com.au.
