A development application to build the new Longford Ambulance Station has now been submitted to the Northern Midlands Council.

Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said the new facility will be a state-of-the-art, two-bay ambulance station with volunteer training room facilities and improved infection control measures.

“The new Longford Ambulance Station will enhance Ambulance Tasmania’s ability to meet the needs of the community by supporting timely responses to callouts,” Minister Petrusma said

“A key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is boosting emergency care in our regions.”

The new Longford Ambulance Station will be built on a Government-owned greenfield site at 20 Union Street, Longford, and will replace the existing ambulance station in Smith Street.

Construction of the new Longford Station is expected to start in late 2025 and be completed in late 2026.
