King Island to seek new councillor
KING Island will be going to the polls to elect a new councillor following Cr Duncan McFie's resignation.
King Island Mayor Marcus Blackie said having received the resignation of Cr Duncan McFie from the King Island Council effective immediately, the Tasmanian Electoral Commission (TEC) has been subsequently notified.
"The TEC has therefore declared the 9th King Island Council seat now vacant, with a local by-election to be held in the months ahead," he said.
"Confirmation of dates for the by-election and information for the King Island voting public will be released when confirmed shortly.
"On behalf of the council, I thank and acknowledge the long period of elected service provided by Mr McFie,” acting General Manager Catherine Dale said.
